November 2010

Well, just an example of what I have come up with for the calendar. I have no idea what you guys want for photos, but here are some I thought could match the months. Just small and cropped images for now, but before I make it I’d like to know if they’re okay?

Wow, I am really bad at updating…

Anyhow, I had a shoot with Jonas Carmhagen today. He’s a fan of the Japanese series Naruto so he wanted me to have make-up just like Orochimaru. Easier said that done, I would say, but it looks quite good now afterwards!

photo and retouch: Jonas Carmhagen

Oh, and Robert has now joined my project I will be doing for my final exam in school. We’ve already been discussing how we want it to turn out and we’ve contacted other photographers like Elizabeth May and Anette Schive. Do you know any great photographers out there that mainly work with natural light? Do tell 🙂

One of my photos was used as a reference for this lovely drawing 🙂

Sorry I haven’t been updating for days. I have been packing my things in my apartment because we’re moving soon. So it hasn’t been much time over for updating.

Anyhow, I am choosing photos for the calendar, I noticed many would like one which makes me really happy! So now I am not sure what photos you’d like in it, but I am trying to choose photos that match the months. ^^ Could be nice to know which ones are your favourites!

A little sneak peek ^^

Behind the scenes from today’s shoot with gorgeous Cosette in the cold, cold weather.

Yes, some of you have been asking for older photos by me. So here you go, one of Harriet taken in 2006. This was our first real shoot together. It has happened quite a lot since then! Four years.

And from this year, quite a difference! XD

Some questions:

which kinds of metal music do you like?

Well, I’ll link to my so you can see rather than me telling 🙂

What program do you use to retouch?

Photoshop CS4

Ever thought of giving out your own tips and tricks with your blogs? Some artists are secretive, but I wondered how you felt about that 🙂

Hmm, I am not sure I have so much to give out any ways! But for the things I have learnt on my own I sure want to keep for myself because my photography is based on these. 🙂

do you remove moles when you retouch or it depends?

Some I remove, others I keep. I want to keep it realistic and I love keeping personal features! 🙂

Your bf is Japanese or descending? He looks like!

Haha no, he’s half latvian though!

what kind of game console do you have? what’s your favorite games?

Basically, all the Nintendo ones, from NES all the way to Wii. But also XBOX 360, Sega and playstation. Anyhow, my favourite game is Zelda (Oot and twilight princess). But I have a love for left 4 dead 2 and gears of war (2). Hm, I have lots more favourite games I think… though. I also adore Dragon Age origins to my computer. 😀 I have games that I love on every console, but it not my absolute favourites though!

are you straight edge?

You said you’d like to take photos of Johnny Depp. How about a female model? Who would you choose? ^^

Even harder question! Hm, I think Dita von teese looks lovely. But Keira Knightley is also nice, she fits in those fancy dresses…. So I guess Dita or Kiera. 🙂

A photo I took some time ago (the date isn’t correct though). I can’t even recall when it was, but I came across it today when I was listening to their music and was happy to see that they still use it. ^^ It’s a Swedish band called 11th hour.

From an interview this Summer, don’t think it was published in the magazine, so I just wanted to share with you now instead. 🙂

-What inspired you do be a photographer?

I’ve been interested in art since I was quite young, back then I’d be drawing or painting.  As I’ve never been good at expressing myself only with words, I used my drawings to speak for me. But I got tired because I wasn’t progressing any and wanted to test something different, something else that still spoke to me. I remember when a saw a field of yellow flowers, and thought that I just had to capture its beauty. So I asked my friend Harriet if she could model for me in it, and she did.
Something caught me that day, because ever since that day I’ve always loved to have a camera in my hands, prepared to capture both memories and dreams.

-What makes a great photo?

When you can feel the emotion it portrays. A photo is far better when it tells a story, rather than just being technically perfect.

How would you best describe your style?
I would describe it as a world that only exists between dreams and reality, where I use my own dreams and nightmares, to create it. I want my photography to feel timeless and my models to be like the characters you read about in story- and fantasy books.

-Do you have any other skills?

I draw and write as well. But photographing and retouching is quite time-consuming, so I hardly have any time left over to neither draw nor write.

-If you could choose a famous person to photograph who would it be and why?

Johnny Depp. I’ve always been fond of this man, he’s such an inspiration. And has some lovely bone structure as well.

-Do you come up with the ideas for your photo shoots?

Yes, most of the time. Sometimes I plan for weeks, other times I only plan for some minutes where I just grab some things and head out myself. Photographing with a team of a makeup artist and model sure takes longer time to plan, we usually develop the idea together.
